Childlike Faith

Childlike faith.

One of the beautiful gifts of childhood is simple faith.

After breakfast, prepared by  my wonderful hubby, yesterday

I left the table and my 3 guys to ice my sore back and recline while they finished eating.

Aaron asked the boys to say their memory verses,

the ones they are learning for church.

John 3:16-17

“16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son

That whoever believes in Him

Shall not perish, but have eternal life.

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,

But to save the world through Him.”

They finished verse 16 and Aaron began asking questions.

Great questions.

They discussed the verse for a while.

When they were done,

Collin looked up from his nearly licked clean plate of french toast

And said, “Dod is MY Dod”

*Note: Collin can’t say hard G or hard C sounds yet.*

I chimed in and asked him why God was his God??

He simply said,

“Betause I love Him.”

Guess what, he is right.

It is that simple.

At four years old, he is able to understand  the basic foundation of a walk with Christ.

Loving God.

Sometimes it is so hard to remember it is really that simple.

Loving God because He first loved us.

Trusting what He says is truth.

Childlike faith.

Pure and simple.

Come sit with me…

I often hear the phrase “come sit with me, Collin” come out of Noah’s mouth and generally it is followed by a quick “no” from Collin. Well today, Noah decided to snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and watch “Jonah” (Veggie Tales movie) and Collin decided to join him. No invitation, he just took the initiative. He knew the invitation was always open and he took the opportunity to act on the moment and snuggle up on the couch with his brother. Noah asked Collin if he wanted covered up too and after Collin said yes, he covered his brother up and together they watched the movie for a good 1/2 hour. It was beautiful! My heart leaped at the tender exchange and then I was humbled!! How many times do I turn God down when I feel His prompting for me to spend time with him? Too many to count!! I know the invitation is always open to spend time snuggled up with my Father, today, I will take time to snuggle and cover my soul with His word. I encourage you to do the same!
