Oat Dinner Rolls!!

These are toooooo good not to share!


Oat Dinner Rolls

  • 2 1/3 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup oats
  • 2/3 cups brown sugar
  • 3 TBS butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 (1/4 oz) packs yeast
  • 5 – 5 3/4 cups flour
  1. In a saucepan, bring 2 cups water to boil. Stir in oats, reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, butter, salt and remaining water.
  3. Let stand until mixture cools to 110′ -115′.
  4. In large bowl of stand mixer, combine 3 cups flour and yeast. Add oatmeal mixture; beat well.
  5. Add enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  6. Turn onto a floured surface, knead 6-8 minutes.
  7. Place in greased bowl, turning once. Cover and let rest for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  8. Punch down, shape into 24 rolls and place on greased cookie sheets.
  9. Let rest, covered 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 350′ for 20-25 minutes, until light brown.
  11. Best served warm!!!
