A morning well spent…

The smell of chocolate cake baking is filling my house.

The table is set for dinner that is 3 1/2 hours away.

The pugs are piled up in the center of the living room floor sleeping the afternoon away.

Collin is sleeping on the couch.

Noah is fighting sleep in the chair.

We are watching the 1990-something BBC version of “The Chronicles of Narnia”.

It is relatively quiet.

The 90′ weather coupled with the 325’oven are offering stiff competition for the air conditioning.

Thankfully the AC is winning.

This morning, we had planned to meet a group of friends at the Airforce Museum.

One by one, they bailed.

(All for good reasons, I promise.)

The boys and I hit the road to explore the museum by ourselves.

We arrived to find the place swarming with visitors.

TO MANY VISITORS!!

I talked to the boys and we decided to try the new sprayground nearby.

Thankfully my OCD inclines me to plan for anything, so I had their swimsuits in the van.

See, it turned out to be a good thing that no one could join us today, change of plans!

We headed to the park.

The place was swarming with kids, but it was fine.

I called my dad, to see if he wanted to join us.

(The park is around the corner from their house.)

The boys were thrilled with the idea of playing in the water, until….

They discovered it would get in their eyes.

Game Over!

10 minutes after getting changed and entering the spray ground, they were done!

We went over to a picnic area w/ playground and ate the lunch I had packed.

Then headed to grandpa’s for ice cream and target practice w/ their toy guns.

A morning well spent.

Time to go… the cake is done baking!
